The prostate is a small internal gland and is part of the male reproductive system. As men age the prostate gland is likely to enlarge. This enlargement is due to the cells of the prostate increasing in size. Because the urethra (the canal which urine goes through) passes directly through the prostate, as the prostate enlarges, pressure is applied like a ‘clamp’ to the urethra resulting in the unpleasant symptoms associated with Enlarged Prostate otherwise known as medically diagnosed BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia).
